Run Club

Welcome to the RunLikeCrazy Run Club! We are a network of running groups in Melbourne, hoping to grow nationally as demand grows. Above all, we want people to come and RUN FOR FUN!

RLC Run Club is the brainchild of T-Bone, Scotty & Wooly, three of Melbourne’s most dedicated running enthusiasts who have decided that more people should run and be as blatantly happy and fulfilled as they are.

Session Times

To begin with, training will follow the below schedule. As events dictate and more people join the club, we will offer further training times to suit members.

Tuesdays 6:00am – 7:15am  - A variety of sessions, including track (quality work), tempo, intervals, hills and Fartlek

Thursdays 6:00am – 7:15am -A variety of sessions, including track (quality work), tempo, intervals, hills and Fartlek

Saturdays 8:00am – 11:00am – Long run on road or trail (distance event dependent). This run is open to ALL members & non-members – we do not charge for the session

The first of the three clubs will begin on Tuesday the 19th of November at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre. The initial 2 weeks will be free for all to trial the group and see what benefit you can gain by running with a group.

Each session after this point will be calculated on a per session basis for weekday sessions only. Members will be given a NFC tag (like a smart card) as a key fob or wrist band and attendance will be recorded. At the end of each month, members will be charged according to their attendance.

Per Session Charge Weekdays – $8 (as of Jan 2015)

We will be working to have this fee waived for members of MSAC, but until a partnership is confirmed, this will be the standard rate. Unfortunately we do not offer bulk discounts, as the per session rate has already been heavily discounted.

Yes, the long run is a free group session. Bring as many mates as you like and come have fun with us.

Can I Trial The Club?

Of course, we welcome all introductory members to their first two sessions free. We understand that our group may not be for everyone, but please come down and try us out. We cater for a huge mix of running abilities:

Beginner – never run before, but sounds like a great way to lose weight or recapture your fitness.

Intermediate – have run a few races, even a couple of half marathons, but would like to raise the bar and run a marathon or beyond.

Advanced – have run a couple of marathons, but would like to go faster and/or further. It’s time for me to get some Crazy in my Run!

As advanced runners ourselves, we offer advice on a range of distances:

5km – Beginner running for all shapes & sizes

10km – First time or fastest time

15km – Fun run or step up – City2Surf, City2Sea, Run For The Kids

21km – Half Marathon for 1:15 runners, right through to 2:30 plus target times

42.2km – You name the marathon, we’ve done it. This club has more international marathon experience than any in Australia!

50km – Ultra, for those running road or trail, ie. North Face 50km

100km – Ultra running for those who have the North Face 100km in their sites, or one of the exciting international ultras like Comrades or Mongolian 100km!

Stage Races – We can give you first hand accounts of world famous race like Marathon Des Sables (250km across the Sahara) or GoreTex TransAlpine (320km from Germany to Italy)

100 milers – We’ve defeated the biggest of them all, Ultra Trail Mont Blanc!

Trails Or Road

Our sessions are predominantly event focused. Our aim is to train you up to your first event – 5km, 10km, 21km – and then set you up to run the longer distances as your ability and fitness improves.

We will have split groups runs on the weekend:

Group 1 will focus on trails, preparing for the now prolific trail running series and ultras that have sprung up around Melbourne. We will alternate between Lysterfield/Churchill Parks, The You Yangs, Studley Park and The Dandenongs. These sessions will go from 1 hour to 6 hours, depending on the event we are working toward and the standard of the runners.

Group 2 will run the bike paths and roads around Melbourne to prepare you for your chosen road race. We’ll meet at various locations, linking up members of all clubs for a combined long run along the Yarra River, around Port Phillip Bay, or along Kew Boulevard.

So come on down and give us a go. You’ll be laughing while you’re running in no time! You’ll even start believing you’re a real runner – perhaps even an Ultra Runner!
